My Commute
Posted on 03/28/2010 at 10:53 PM

I've been stricken with flu for the past three days, a flu so severe that Thursday night my temperature spiked to 103, and my face felt like it was going to melt off, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" style. Temperature's been back to normal for the last couple days, but I still feel like I've been run over by a train. Still, like the good Jewish boy that I am, I'll be making my way to Jersey tonight for the annual Sank family seder. I even made my famous Sephardic charoset (which looks like something you'd swerve to avoid stepping in on the street but is actually quite delicious).

Do I make you hungry, baby?

Temporary Insanity
Posted on 03/18/2010 at 01:43 PM

Yeah, I'm still here. Sorry to disappear for so long. Shortly after my last blog post I got a temp job that sucked -- and continues to suck -- every ounce of energy from my being. "Temping" is something of a misnomer, because it conjures up images of someone working now and then, coming and going at will, pushing papers, filing one's nails and ogling one's hot straight officemates.

Well, think again, honeys! Temping is really just working full-time for low wages without benefits. It's a huge drag, in every sense of the word. Although I do have one hot straight officemate, a muscly Italian guy I have affectionately dubbed "Meathead."

Seeking Good Newbie Comics for Upcoming Show
Posted on 02/27/2010 at 05:45 PM

Attention all Up-and-Coming Comics: I am looking for someone who would like to perform at a new show I am producing in New York City on Saturday, April 3 at 8:30 PM.

The show will take place at a 72-seat theater inside a popular Midtown night spot. If you've ever seen any of my shows before, you know that they are always professionally produced and well-attended/publicized.

You will get seven minutes of stage time to open the show. We will not be recording the show, but you are welcome to set up your own camera if you'd like to videotape your set. Your name and photo will be included on the press release and the show flier, and you will be performing alongside two professional comedians and myself.

In return, you agree to arrive one hour before showtime and bark for the show -- passing out fliers and working to get passers-by into the club. If you would prefer to bring rather than bark, you may instead bring a minimum of 10 audience members. NOTE: IF YOU CHOOSE THE LATTER OPTION AND FEWER THAN 10 OF YOUR AUDIENCE MEMBERS SHOW UP, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM.

This is a terrific opportunity for a comic who's been at it a year or more and is ready to move to the next level. It is not your standard comedy club bringer show that drags on for three hours. Rather, there will only be three comics booked -- one of whom is you. Industry will be invited, and strong sets will be rewarded with future non-flier bookings.

If you're interested in this spot, please email me ASAP. Include whatever comedy experience you've had thus far, your head shot and links to your video.

Please feel free to forward to this to any of your comic friends.

Thanks and best, Adam

"I'm Still Here!" -- Sondheim's "Follies"
Posted on 02/09/2010 at 10:15 AM

Yes, bitches, I do still lurk on this site from time to time. I just got sick of linking my Soapbox page to my actual blog page, especially once my tour was underway and I was spending all my time uploading video.

But if you're one of those rare birds who ONLY notices my blog when it's posted here, then honey, you got some catching up to.

Click Here to see everything I've been up to.

And while you're at it, check out my new advice blog, "Ask a Homo."

I've also started doing ventriloquism and have a puppet named "February."

No, just kidding about the last thing.

Homo lurking.
